It can be a big decision to invest in a website for your business but there are so many benefits to having your own professional website.
If you’ve been wondering whether to spend money on a website for your business but aren’t yet convinced, read on. I’m about to share with you my top 5 reasons for investing in a website for your business.
1. You own your website
There are lots of ways you can promote your business to potential clients and customers but the majority are run by other companies who could take them away from you at any given moment.
We’ve all heard the horror stories of Instagram accounts being locked and people not being able to access the help they need to get it up and running. That should never happen with your website.
I’m a firm believer that my clients should have complete control over their website. For that reason I might do things slightly differently to other website designers but that’s only because I have your best intentions at heart.
2. A website gives your business legitimacy
Anyone can have a business website and these days most of your clients and customers will expect you to have one. By creating a website for your business, you give your business legitimacy and authority.
I don’t know about you but if I search for a business online and they don’t have a website I can be put off working with/buying from/visiting them. It makes me question whether they really exist, if they’re fake or if I have their information correct. Do you really want your potential customers thinking that about your business?
3. A website builds trust
On top of giving your business legitimacy, a website helps to build trust amongst your potential clients or customers.
On your website you can provide so much more information about who you are, what you do, how you can help your customers/clients and why they would choose to work with you.
Your potential buyers can really get to know you and your business, in much more detail than is possible in most other marketing activities. Think about how much information you can put into a single social media post. Not much when you compare it to a comprehensive website.
All this additional information and the ease at which they can access it, helps your clients to build trust in your business.
4. Customers looking at your website are at a different stage in their customer journey
When you’re promoting your business on social media you are using what’s known as interruption marketing. This is where you are interrupting someone from what they are doing in order to promote your business.
If you think about it, it makes perfect sense that if someone is scrolling through Instagram catching up with what their friends have been up to, when they see your advert/post, they are much less likely to buy from you than if they were actively searching for the thing that you are promoting.
Having a website gives you the opportunity to capture people who are actively searching for the products or services that you can provide.
TIP: Just having a website doesn’t mean thousands of people are going to be visiting it. A part of your website strategy should be implementing SEO for your keywords.
5. Generating leads
A good website should generate leads for your business. Even people that follow you on social media will probably want to view your website for more information about what you do and how you can help them before making a decision about working with you.
Your website is the perfect place to get people to contact you and also to sign up for your e-mail marketing list, where you can nurture them.
A website won’t just generate leads by itself but by just implementing basic SEO when the website is built it is possible to receive organic traffic to your website.
If you really want it working hard for your business you’ll need a marketing strategy that drives traffic to your website – but at least you’ll have somewhere to send people.
These days everyone expects businesses to have a website and it’s so easy to create one there really is no excuse as to why you wouldn’t have a website for your business.
I build websites for clients who don’t have a website at all yet and for those who have outgrown their current one. If you’d like to have a chat about working together on a website for your business, you can book a call with me here.
